1. Gene Synthesis Production Associate

DNA2.0 is a rapidly growing synthetic biology company and today is the largest US provider of synthetic genes. We now seek a production associate to support our gene manufacturing group. The company has an exciting and dynamic work environment with many opportunities for personal and professional growth.

This entry-level position entails working in synthetic gene manufacturing as part of a dedicated team. The work requires following standard operating procedures for DNA sequencing, including primer-template mixing, setting up/cleaning up sequencing reactions, checking sequencing quality and performing sequencer maintenance. The work also includes employing standard molecular biology methods for plasmid preparation, PCR and PCR purification, and colony picking. The successful candidate also will interact with our bioinformatics department.

The schedule for this shift is 10:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m. on weekdays, and 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on the two weekend shifts required per month (all work weeks will be five days). These times may change depending on lab and business needs.

The successful candidate will have broad demonstrated skills in molecular biology, particularly in the areas of PCR, cloning and DNA sequencing analysis. Experience with automated liquid handling stations and DNA synthesis platforms is a plus, as is possessing basic programming skills. The successful candidate will be hands-on; possess excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills; work well in a team environment; and be able to contribute intellectually to, and complete, projects under strict deadlines. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while retaining impeccable organizational skills and quality control.

Requirements: Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a related field, with molecular biology/biotechnology experience in a business or high-quality laboratory setting.
