Controller / HR Generalist

We are currently looking to hire an outstanding in-house Controller / HR Generalist to be responsible for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of our company. This person will be responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and insurance.

This person will also assume the responsibilities of Human Resources. They will be responsible for handling payroll, health insurance, 401k and other benefits as well as resolving potential employee relations issues and concerns. They will handle all HR-related procedures and processes in a timely manner as well as settle issues related to employee records, commission, benefits, and PTO.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field. Preference will be given to candidates with a CPA or CMA certification.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • History of success in managing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Excellent time management, highly motivated and can work independently.
  • Ability to record accounting entries for various activities, including purchases and sales, fixed assets and depreciation, payroll and related payroll taxes.
  • Prepares bank reconciliations of sub-ledgers and customer statements to control accounts, including accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Proficiency with excel spreadsheets.
  • Excellent communication skills, is proactive and is comfortable working with all levels in an organization.

Tissue Culture Lab Manager

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Performance and oversight of tissue culture techniques including cell growth and maintenance, transfection, cryogenic storage. Experience with antibody or protein expression is a big advantage.
  • Performance and oversight of cell characterization assays including FACS, ELISA, and SDS-PAGE
  • Supervise laboratory operations to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Oversee training of new and current laboratory personnel in laboratory procedures and protocols
  • Provide guidance in the distribution of workload
  • Ensure that aseptic/microbiological and sound chemical techniques are applied to the daily workload
  • Maintenance of all laboratory personnel training, reviews, and goal setting
  • Placement of laboratory personnel in appropriate laboratory areas to ensure efficiency and staff success
  • Information liaison to various other departments within the company
  • Ensure that all required equipment is in place and properly functioning
  • Ensure that all technical procedures are up to date and properly followed
  • Overall organization, housekeeping, maintenance, and space utilization of the laboratory
  • Oversee laboratory departmental staff meetings
  • Supervise non-routine projects per client request and as assigned
  • Oversee status of projects and writing of project report summaries
  • Review and approval of final technical reports going out to clients to include spreadsheets, special projects, and contract research
  • Review and oversee data entries
  • Communicate with the Assistant Laboratory Manager and Production Supervisors to ensure that all laboratory processes are managed with the highest quality and efficiency

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree. Masters degree preferred. Cell biology, preferred. Antibody expression knowledge is a big advantage.
  • Knowledge and a minimum of 5 years of experience of tissue culture technique and 2 years of personnel management
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, balanced assertiveness and team orientation.
  • Must have excellent time management skills.
  • Flexible and adaptive behavior and ability to thrive in a high growth environment

Tissue Culture Associate II: Protein Expression

Key functions:

  1. Tissue Culture: Maintain and establish tissue culture cell lines, which requires good sterile technique and ability to determine cell counts and cell viability using microscope and automated cell counting devices. Prepare sterile media and solutions. Transfection of various mammalian cell lines. Monitor, order, and shelve tissue culture supplies. Prepare cells for cryogenic storage and subsequent re-establishment of viable cell lines. Some protocols require work on weekends/holidays and time away must be coordinated with other staff to ensure cell lines are maintained.
  2. Basic Techniques in Protein Assays: Perform ELISA, Western blotting, SDS-PAGE gels. Other skills required include DNA/RNA isolation, plasmid preparation.
  3. Record Keeping and Maintenance of Lab: Maintain clean and neat work area in laboratory to ensure efficient functioning and pleasant/safe work environment. Responsible for ordering laboratory supplies, maintaining inventory and calling vendors when service calls are required. Follow written instructions/operation manuals.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree. Masters degree preferred. Cell biology background required
  • Work Experience: minimum of 4 years of tissue culture laboratory experience
  • Knowledge and experience of tissue culture technique
  • Flexible and adaptive behavior and ability to thrive in a high growth environment
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, balanced assertiveness and team orientation
  • Ablility to design and execute and analyze experiments and formulate conclusions with moderate level of supervision
